Fishing At Fort Fisher
Welcome to Tails Up Charters. Let's go fishing in some of the best and most beautiful fishing grounds in North Carolina. We'll start from Federal Point and travel in and around the creeks and channels of Fort Fisher. There's plenty to see and do throughout our day or half-day trip. I've outfitted an efficient 19 foot Carolina Skiff complete with platforms and electronics that allows us to navigate and fish many locations. A quiet and remote controlled trolling motor allows us to cover even more water stalking fish. Those fish would be Red Drum, Speckled Trout, Flounder, Black Drum, Sheepshead, Grey Trout, Tarpon (Summer months), Spots, Lady Fish and a few species that are rarities. And yes, we do catch a majority of these at times. The boat's equipped with two live wells for fish and bait which we use as well as an assortment of artificials. Provided in our trip will be some of the latest and best tackle to keep you from having to service yours. Should you want to bring your favorite rod, please do so and show me a thing or to. I guarantee fish for before we go home. If we get a break in the fishing action, we'll go for a "Dutch Treat" lunch at Provision Company in Southport (open March 15 - October 15).
The Barbee family had a great day catching red and black drum, flounder, and trout.

Larry's got topwater fever now after this pair.
Bring the kids (they're good fishermen too)
Some of my best trips have included children, wives, 3 generations. It's so great to see family members getting excited about catching another one. The boat is comfortable, safety equipped, coast guard approved, insured and I am licensed. If you don't want to bring your own camera, don't worry, we'll be taking pictures for you as well as my own collection. There's a monthly sporting magazine in Wilmington, that loves to publish fisherman catching fish, especially children.

Ragan Sandy, first red drum, great start wouldn't you say? Sometimes kids get a little scared at catching really nice fish, but they, like us, soon over come these fears.
Fishing has been good year round. Some of the best sight fishing comes in our winter time. If you like stalking fish, you're going to love where we fish and how quiet and scenic our fishing grounds are.
